Head Teacher's Message

At High View, we are deeply committed to the holistic development of every child in our care. From the moment they enter our nursery, we provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where they are challenged and supported by skilled educators. Our staff work diligently to foster each child's unique potential, preparing them for the myriad of challenges that lie ahead. This preparation encompasses not just the academic rigours of education but extends to personal growth, ensuring that our children are resilient and ready for the next steps in their journey.

From their individual starting points, we set a high standard with the expectation that every pupil will make excellent progress. Our staff maintain high expectations across the board, targeting the development of essential skills and knowledge in alignment with the national curriculum. While we understand that academic excellence in subjects like English and maths is of paramount importance, we also recognise that these alone do not equip our children for success in the complexities of modern society.

To further enrich our offer, we embrace a wide range of extracurricular activities. Be it through forest school lessons, performing arts classes, or the Young Leaders Award, we strive for children to have opportunities to thrive. Violin lessons in Year 3 and residential trips in Years 4 and 6 immerse our pupils in diverse experiences, while initiatives aimed at developing financial literacy, speaking Spanish as a foreign language and an array of sporting activities help to broaden their social, cultural, and financial capital. These experiences play a crucial role in preparing our children to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.

Our mantra—'Speak Up. Be Heard. Create Change.'— resonates through the voices of our pupils and is encouraged by our dedicated teaching staff. In a world that is changing rapidly, it is crucial for children to have the confidence to articulate their concerns and take action, thereby fostering meaningful change in their lives and communities.

We strive to prepare our children for the uncertainties of the future, encouraging them to develop vital attitudes and skills such as perseverance, respect, belonging, and creativity. These core values are instrumental in equipping our children not just for the challenges of today but also for those they will encounter down the line. Through the lens of our school values, we aim to create well-rounded individuals capable of navigating an ever-changing world with confidence and adaptability.

High View is not just a school; it is an aspirational community composed of ambitious parents and inspired children. We take pride in the fact that our pupils transition to secondary education as ‘year 7 ready,’ possessing the skills and confidence needed for success, whether they choose grammar schools, private institutions, state schools, or other alternatives.
